I love having a cup of something cozy to drink in the mornings, but sometimes am sensitive to the caffeine content in coffee. Because of this, tea has become a morning (and sometimes afternoon) staple!

I absolutley adore the ritual of making tea! It forces me to slow down a bit a become more present.... Putting the kettle on to boil, waiting patiently till just the right moment- seconds before the high-pitched squeal of steam- then allowing the water to gently cool.  That itself is a practice in mindfulness.

For quite some time my go-to tea has been an organic Rooibos, which I make into an aromatic Chai. Not long ago I tried an amazing matcha green tea and fell in love! If you aren’t familiar, matcha is the highest quality powdered green tea available. It’s made from nutrient-rich young tea leaves and has been used in Japanese tea ceremony for over 900 years! Buddhist monks honor matcha as a health elixir for its potential to heighten concentration and also improve metabolism.

Recently, I stopped into Churchill Tea, which is one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon. So many varieties of tea! And the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. I tried several varieties of matcha teas and settled on a ceremonial green dragon and culinary green tea. Both are excellent!

I’m not only drinking matcha tea, but have used it as inspiration to create an organic matcha green tea body butter that is light, airy and melts into skin effortlessly.  There are no preservatives, dyes or synthetic chemicals used. The tea (from Churchill Fine Teas) is never heated and retains the myriad of antioxidant properties. I love making this body butter and use it daily. It’s definitely a new favorite around here!
